Greeting, Commanders!

In the last faction reveal, we showed you the reptilian warriors of Kur: the Sauras. Today we’ll introduce one of the most ruthless factions of the Fractal universe. As a reminder, there will be a total of 7 factions in the core game, and 5 additional ones unlocked via the Aftermath, including 1 that will be created by the community during the campaign!

Introducing : Gorias – The Bone Merchants


Some gaze into the stars and dream.

Some see nothing but emptiness. Gorias are different. We are a more pragmatic kind. Where there are stars, there are riches flowing between them. Where there is a flow, we cast the net. Our web of trading routes has served us well. Ever since the Federation fell we were free to profit from the scattered and decadent civilizations. Weapons and mercenaries were finally in high demand. Those who refused to engage in trade or forgot to pay? They were turned into merchandise.

The Bone Coin, slaves: our most precious and sought-after commodity, the heart and soul of our empire. Until now.

A new era is upon us, filled with wondrous opportunities. We must expand and invest our resources if we want to make the most out of this new galactic order. And then, the Bone Coin will flow again, stronger than ever before.

After all, riches await those willing to cast the net.


The Gorias are traders, merchants and natural opportunists at heart. And while they deal in every known resources, the core of their business is people. Their empire was indeed built on the back of slaves taken from every species in the galaxy (including their own). Of all the civilizations, they were maybe the ones who strived the most after the fall of the Federation, using the chaos of the shattered empire to prosper and flourish.

Their Innate Abilities are all based on the terrible Bone Coin they collect everywhere they pass. With True Reward, they can capture slaves from every colony they successfully siege. These units are placed in a pool that is then used to further the might of their empire. With Bone Trader, the more slaves the Gorias own, the more Depletion they can remove during the Income phase. Which means they can be much more aggressive with their actions and economy, as long as they have the Bone Coin to pay for it. This make the Gorias a fantastically versatile faction once their bone engine starts running.

Their unique Government, the Council of the Bone, considerably reinforces this strategy, by allowing the Gorias to remove even more depletions by sacrificing slaves, and to capture enemy units via raids, somewhat alleviating the need to siege and therefore to deploy large-scale military operations.

They can also use a more classical government type, the Trade Federation, that softens their most brutal aspects to focus on the successful exploitation of the galaxy’s resources and the exploration and colonization of new sectors, allowing the Gorias to build wide empires.

Finally, their Combat Mastery, Bone Collector, makes them fearsome foes in conflicts. Once per battle, they can capture an enemy unit that they forced to retreat, depleting enemy reserves and reinforcing their own empire. Once upgraded, this mastery can be triggered constantly, making the Gorias a formidable enemy that will make the most of every battle, win or lose.

After all, there are always more bones to collect.
